May 31, 2020 Government of Pakistan (GOP) has decided to convert all the existing and new power plants on the specification of Thar Coal versus earlier plan of converting these on imported coal ISLAMABAD, Oct 3: The government has decided that only Thar coal will be used in coal-based power plants in future. Consequently, new power plants and the existing ones that are to be converted Similarly the govt should incetivise the private sector to mine Thar coal for not only power projects but also to be used in other projects such as Cement, Rail cars, etc. Recommend 0 Akram Engro Thar Block II power plant is a new coal-fired power station located in the Tharparkar district, Sindh, Pakistan.
